Composer Surface 2.04 (and later including Composer Surface 2012 v3.7) for Windows is able to play (WAV audio) instruments and the Envelopes (synthesisers) separately, and can't at present play them at the same time. But you can of course play the Envelopes and Instruments together by opening more than one copy of Composer Surface 2.04.

If you are using the RealTek audio chipset and you want to use the RealTek effects (like Auditorium echo) you have to open a copy of Composer Surface 2.04 and play Envelopes (only) and then switch off the editor on that copy. The Realtek audio effects will then become operative when you open another copy of Composer Surface 2.04 and play the instruments (or WAV audio).

The Composer Surface programs can be downloaded by clicking the links on the left. You can open the downoaded programs by double clicking on the downloaded file (in its download folder). If you open more than one copy of Composer Surface it is possible to compose orchestral music, and you may play the compositions using keyboard operation - where all open copies of Composer Surface will synchonize automatically. You can also play multiple copies at the same time by maximizing all of them, and clicking on Play - where your mouse action will drill down through all copies of Composer Surface.

To add a note simply click on the note you want and then click on the stave and drag the note to the required pitch. To add a sharp, flat or natural click on the note you want and then click on the sharp, flat or natural, and then simply click on the stave, and drag the note to the desired pitch..

Would you like a copy of Composer Surface that is programmed to play your "own" personal instrument? Like your favorite violin? Maybe you'd like to have your voice in Composer Surface?
Your own polyphonic or monophonic instrument and/or voice samples can be stored and played using Composer Surface; this is the key strength of Composer Surface. Composer Surface is most suitable for your own voice or for monophonic instruments like percussion, clarinets, flutes and other wind instruments.
To program Composer Surface 2012 v3.7 save your instrument sample (.WAV) files and graphics (.BMP) files in the installation folder.
